EAL – Level 3 Award in the In-service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment (PAT Testing)

It is the responsibility for the Duty Holder, (Owner, Manager, Health and Safety Officer etc), to ensure that all electrical equipment is periodically inspected and tested to comply with the LAW, The Electricity at Work Regulations 1989; Regulation 4(2). In-service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment is therefore a requirement. Businesses must have a system in place for ensuring the safety of employees and the public.

The EAL  Level 3 ‘PAT’ testing Qualification is for people who are in Management with Duty Holder responsibilities, and for those undertaking practical inspection and testing of electrical equipment, this activity is a requirement to comply with the law that all electrical systems shall be maintained, this includes electrical equipment.  The ‘Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations’ (PUWER Regulations), is another statutory document that enforces the inspection and testing of electrical equipment and appliances.

This EAL Level 3 qualification is the top ‘PAT’ testing course for those either involved or looking to become involved in the inspection and testing of electrical equipment  Assessment is via an on-line multiple choice test.  There is also a practical assessment involving the inspection and test of two classes of equipment and recording the results..

‘PAT’ testing qualifications can help you in your work across many industries including, Manufacturing, Building and Construction, Engineering’ Professional PAT Tester (self-employed), workplace and *domestic electrical equipment.

  • Electrical Equipment in rented accommodation should periodically be inspected and tested, and also completed on a change of occupancy.

The publication, ‘IET – Code of Practice for In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment’, is essential as it will be referred to throughout the course and  will be taken into the exam.

Course Cost : £ 500

Attendance :  1 day a week  for 2 weeks 09.00 – 14.30

Plus, attendance for an externally set and marked ‘on-line’ exam.
